If, like me, you just have to have a classic muscle car in the stable, there is no better choice than a 1970 Chevelle S.S.
Originally I lusted after a LS6 model with a 454 and 450 H.P. Then we found Mongo on the internet. The original engine was a 396 according to the build sheet but during his restoration he had been fitted with a 502, Brodix heads and intake, an 850 Holley and a 4.30 rear end. The ad claimed you could run the 1/4 mile and still take your kids to the ice cream shop. The killer phrase was "the neighbors will hear you come home"
I was a little skeptical at first but when I heard the car start for the first time ... I was hooked! This was rumble ... Big Time! We've never raced him, nor have we been to the ice cream shop but I guarantee that the neighbors know when Mongo is out and about. With "Line Lock" fitted to the front discs, you can smoke the rear tires at will and he's known affectionally as "Mongo ... The 5.0 Liter Eater" So Mustangs and Rice Burners beware! Of course, we don't condone or believe in street racing ... much!
