Collectible Cars

The last thing we needed was another car, but how much trouble could you get into just going to see something unusual?

I was very familiar with the Austin Mini Cooper from the 60's in England. They were great fun. Upon hearing that BMW was reviving the breed for 2002, I wanted to see what kind of job they did in trying to revive the marque. We dropped in at a dealership one Saturday morning and were pleased to see that the BMW effort was surprisingly faithful to the original Mini. The technology was of course up to date and a 40 + year difference made the engines like night and day. Very impressive.

BMW, you did a good job and I bet you'll sell a few of these. Now comes the problem part, Gail sees a bright yellow model with black top, black racing stripes, a body ground effect kit and yellow fluorescent lights underneath. A dealer "demo" they were now wanting to move. "It looks like a big bumble bee" says Gail. The hair on my neck starts to itch. I've heard that tone before, if she says it's "cute," I'm done for. "Oh, he looks cute, I could call him Mini Bee"

You know the rest of the story!
