Collectible Cars

A lot of you know "Jethro" our 1926 GMC Pickup, you also know that our cars are all named and thought of as children. So it shouldn't surprise you that "he" became a little upset when we got a 1932 Ford Model B pickup. Jethro has been a bit grumpy for the last couple of months and that usually happens if he doesn't get driven regularly. However we just realized that wasn't the real problem. The problem was jealousy. "How come I don't get new parts?" "How come you haven't greased my suspension?" "How come I still have 70 year old mud and grease on my bottom?" whined Jethro when I got to the garage last week. "Well Jethro", I explained diplomatically," it's because you are our most reliable vehicle and you haven't needed all the attention." "Oh yeah, well how come you're always taking the new kid for a drive and how come he stole my "antique" tag and how come he gets to go on the lift thing?"

Good grief! He's right you know, I guess we have not been paying him much attention. And we have been doing a lot of stuff to the new Ford kid ... Our new extensions for the lift arms enable us to now lift a vehicle with a high frame so I had a talk with Jethro and promised he would go up on the lift, have his steering and suspension greased and finally get all the old clay and oil scraped from his bottom. Not only that but we would probably invest in a new exhaust pipe and maybe even get a muffler. So you would think he'd be happy and content but as he sat on the lift for the very first time all he could say was "Oooh it's scary, I didn't realize it would be this high up."

You just can't win with kids.

Latest update is Jethro is getting a nice genuine Harley Davidson stainless steel muffler with a "side exit" just in front of the rear wheel. Just like the supercharged mustang "Redford." Now he's getting happier but he's still frightened of the lift. As we left the garage the other evening, he was on the lift and cried out "You're not going to leave me up here all night are you?" So we had to let the lift down until his wheels were on the ground. And you folks think it's easy having children!!!

Here's some pictures of what has been going on.

This would be "Jon Boy" the 1932 For Model B Pickup with a 4 Cyl flathead. (He caused all the problems with Jethro!)
