In 1996 Chevrolet had the guts to produce the only factory muscle car of the nineties the all black Impala S.S. A three year production from 94-96, they finally got it right in 96 and promptly (go figure) stopped production. They took the frumpy old Caprice family sedan, dropped a Corvette LT1 engine in it, streamlined the body and added all of the police "Interceptor" equipment. Suspension, wheels, tires, brakes and a host of luxury equipment. The 96 year is destined to become a sought after "Classic" in years to come. Dana is a great example with 35,000 original miles, a fresh black paint job many times better than the factory and we added a new computer chip, headers, embroidered carpets, wood dash, flow masters, K&N air filter and several other factory approved extras from NAISSO (National Association of Impala SS Owners)
My friend and mentor Dana Roehrig purchased the car in 1996 and babied it through the first 5 years. When he gave up driving for health reasons, we were first in line with a check. Sadly he passed away shortly afterwards, so we named the car "Dana" and brought it up to the current pristine example of the breed.
