In the 1990's all we see are 6 cylinder, front wheel drive, computer-controlled cars, and most of them are "Rice Burners". Some are nice cars but they are not American muscle cars! But wait a moment, here comes good old Chevrolet. They intend to revive the Impala SS model.
They are going to take the family model "Caprice" and produce a muscle car! The last time they did that was 1969 (See Black Bart) and, there's a coincidence, the final model year for the new breed was to be 1996.
The factory did a great job at reviving the muscle car breed. However this was to be the last of the line. My former employer and mentor Dana Roehrig purchased one in 1996 and I coveted the car for several years. In 2000 he gave up driving and asked if we would buy the car. Are you Kidding!! We snapped it up inside 10 minutes.
